#SICT.- In view of the approaching holiday weekend for the birth of Benemérito Benito Juárez, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) recommends avoiding the use of cell phones, wearing seat belts and respecting speed limits and road signs when driving on the road.

The agency suggests some tips to prevent accidents while driving on the road network:

  • According to studies, about 71% of traffic accidents are attributable to the driver; of this percentage, 20% are due to recklessness or intention, 12% for speeding, 11% for invading the opposite lane and 11% because they did not keep their distance.
  • Use seat belts, special seats for children or protective equipment such as helmets for motorcyclists.
  • Do not speed or drive under the influence of alcohol.

As it is known, this next long weekend (mandatory day of rest) will take place on Monday, March 18, 2024, in commemoration of Benito Juarez’s 21st birthday.

If you are going out on the road, it is possible to reduce risks and prevent fatal consequences or injuries to people due to road accidents.

Pay attention to the traffic signals, all of them are important. By respecting them, we will avoid accidents on our way.
