#EstadoDeMéxico.- As part of the commemoration of World Autism Awareness Day, the Secretary of Health of the State of Mexico, through the State Center for Rehabilitation and Special Education (CEREE), offers treatment to children with this condition.

Attention is also provided to people with Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy, among other developmental disorders, as well as to elderly people who suffered injuries, amputations or who have chronic pain in the musculoskeletal system.

This specialized center provides comprehensive physical, speech, occupational and/or psychological therapy services through the use and support of visual, auditory and tactile tools that allow children to perceive stimuli and improve their physical, motor, psychological and language development.

CEREE also provides training to personnel from educational and health institutions in order to provide tools and knowledge to staff, teachers and school directors, with the aim of improving the identification of probable cases and their timely referral, contributing to the well-being and development of children and their families.

This space has areas of social work, physiotherapy, electrotherapy, mechanotherapy, hydrotherapy, early stimulation, multisensory stimulation center, occupational therapy, home simulator and virtual reality classroom, where family members also have access to receive timely training to acquire knowledge to support patients at home.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurobiological condition, the symptoms and characteristics can be observed -in some cases- in the first year of life, with alterations and delays in language acquisition, difficulty in communication, difficulties in social interactions, restricted interests and repetitive behaviors, and in some cases: lack of eye contact, language and learning disorders.
