The Ministry of Economy will coordinate the work within the framework of the U.S. request for consultations on the implementation of measures for the protection of the vaquita porpoise

#Secretaría de Economía . –  The Ministry of Economy has received a request for consultations from the United States regarding the implementation of measures for the protection of the vaquita under Chapter 24 of the Mexico-United States-Canada Agreement (T-MEC), which provides for a consultation mechanism on environmental issues between the Parties.

This mechanism comprises three sequential instances: the first, between the technical officials in charge of monitoring the chapter; the second, through the members of the Environment Committee; and the third, with the participation of the relevant ministers of the Parties.

The Ministry of Economy will coordinate the work between the different Mexican and U.S. authorities in order to present in a timely manner the efforts and measures adopted to protect marine species in national waters.
