President talks with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture; agribusiness trade grew 35%
#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador met at the National Palace with the US Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack.
In a message on his social networks, the president highlighted that in three years, agro-industrial trade between the two countries went from 47.4 billion dollars to 64 billion dollars, that is, a 35 percent growth.
«We had a very good meeting. (…) The future will continue to be promising,» remarked the Chief Executive.
The meeting was attended by the Secretaries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Víctor Villalobos Arámbula; of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon; and of Finance and Public Credit, Rogelio Ramírez de la O.
The U.S. delegation included Jason Hafemeister, Acting Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Foreign Agricultural Affairs; Ken Salazar, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico; Holly Higgins, Minister-Counselor for Agricultural Affairs; and Douglas McKalip, Advisor to the Secretary of Agriculture.
