Edomex ranks fourth in the country in strawberry production

#EstadoDeMéxico.- According to the Servicio de Información Agroalimentaria y Pesquera (SIAP-2020), the State of Mexico is the fourth largest strawberry producer in the country, with a little more than 360 hectares and around 8 thousand tons produced.

The Secretaría del Campo del Estado de México points out that strawberry, from the Berries group, is a crop of high economic value that is produced in open fields and greenhouses, using organic and conventional production systems.

Among the municipalities with the highest production of this fruit are Villa Guerrero, Zumpahuacán, Ixtapan de la Sal, Almoloya de Alquisiras, Valle de Bravo, where mainly three varieties are harvested: Camino Real, Albión and Festival.

The Mexiquense producers follow the recommendations of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), which are based on the principles, standards and technical recommendations that apply to the various stages of agricultural production to ensure the production of healthy and safe food.
