Miguel Torruco announces increased air connectivity between Mexico and Cuba

#SecretaríaDeTurismo.- During his presentation at the International Tourism Fair (FITCuba) 2022, which is being held from May 3 to 7 in Varadero, Cuba, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) highlighted the importance of air connectivity, as well as strengthening collaboration ties in tourism with sister countries such as Cuba.

Torruco Marqués explained, before authorities and representatives of the Cuban tourism industry, the tourism policy of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which consists of making tourism a tool for social reconciliation.

He pointed out that in 2018, Mexico was in seventh place in international tourist arrivals, but 17th in foreign exchange earnings and 40th in per capita spending; in addition, there was a 92.5% concentration of tourists in just six places; as well as a 67.6% dependence on travelers from North America.

He pointed out that for this reason, Sectur is working on diversifying the offer to promote travel to the 235 places with a tourist vocation, of which 132 are Magical Towns, which for the first time had an international promotion event at the International Tianguis of Magical Towns, held in Barcelona, Spain.
