2022 will be the year of greatest foreign investment in Mexico’s history, says president

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- «This year will be the year with the greatest foreign investment in Mexico’s history», stated President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, highlighting the 19.428 billion dollars that entered the country through foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first quarter of the year.

This figure represents an increase of 63.7 percent with respect to the first three months of 2021, considering the merger of Televisa and Univision.

«Even taking that and the restructuring of Aeroméxico out of the equation, in any case, it’s about six percent, and it’s historic in the first quarter, meaning that this year is going to be the one with the highest foreign investment in Mexico’s history.»

The chief of state added that the merger between both companies means tax payments, which is related to the 17.7 percent increase in Income Tax (ISR), comparing the period from January 1 to May 24, 2022 and 2021.
