Mexico registers $19,427.5 million dollars of FDI from January to March 2022

#SecretaríaDeEconomía.- During the first quarter of 2022 (January-March), we reported a preliminary Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) figure of 19,427.5 million dollars (mdd). As usual with this statistic, the figure will be adjusted when more information on the operations for that period becomes available.

FDI figures were jointly reviewed by the Ministry of Economy and Banco de México, and will be integrated into the latter’s Balance of Payments Report.

In January-March 2022, there were extraordinary FDI movements related to the merger of Televisa with Univision and the restructuring of Aeromexico, which together represent $6.875 billion dollars.

Excluding the aforementioned movements, FDI in the first quarter of 2022 is 5.8% higher than the preliminary amount captured in the same period of 2021 (11,864.0 mdd).
