#Tecamac, State of Mexico, June 12, 2022.- The Municipal President of Tecámac, Mariela Gutiérrez Escalante, invites convenience stores and gas stations (Oxxo, Go Mart and others) of the town to join the system of Puerta Violeta, and reach 200 places that support women who are vulnerable to suffer some kind of violence.

She explained that so far there are one hundred government offices that are Violet Points, where trained personnel provide them with assistance, and in case their lives are in danger, they shelter them until the trained personnel arrive and they are out of danger.

Since there are Oxxo and Go Mart stores in the Tecamaquense territory, which can be added to the one hundred Violet Points that currently exist.

This initiative seeks to train the staff that attends commercial establishments, mainly gas stations and convenience stores, to make them safe places, since according to data provided by Oxxo, 54 percent of its workforce are women.

An example of how commercial establishments can be a support by joining Punto Violeta is the case that took place in the region last May, when a young woman was sheltered in an Oxxo during a kidnapping attempt, until Oxxo staff arrived and reunited her with her family.
