DIF Celaya commemorates World Day for Elder Abuse Awareness Day

#Celaya, #Gto.- At Casa Día, DIF Celaya’s Gerontological Center, an event was held in commemoration of the ‘World Day for the awareness of abuse and mistreatment of the elderly’.

The event was attended by our authorities of the System for the Integral Development of the Family, Rosa María Suárez de Mendoza, President of the Board, María del Carmen Núñez Mares, General Director, Marcelo Reynoso Dorado, Operational Director and the Coordinator of that area, Adriana Cárdenas Ruíz.

«Today June 15 is a very special day, an official date of the UN with the objective of raising awareness and denouncing the mistreatment, abuse and suffering to which older adults can be subjected, this is the reason why we are in this place.»

«The mistreatment of older people is a problem that affects physical and mental health, and violates the human rights of millions of people around the world, so it deserves urgent attention from the family nucleus to the social sphere,» said Adriana Cardenas, who added that eliminating stereotypes and stigmas about aging is fundamental to eradicate abuse.
