Health for Wellness Plan will nationalize the system, says president

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- The Health for Wellbeing Plan being carried out by the Government of the Fourth Transformation aims to nationalize the system and return it to the public sector, said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

«This we are doing with public health has to do with those who do not have social security (…) We are moving forward and the purpose is that next year we will already have a first-class public health system throughout the country. We are getting doctors; rehabilitating health centers, hospitals; equipping, supplying health centers, hospitals with medicines; guaranteeing the constitutional right to health to all the people», he stressed.

In a morning press conference, the President recalled that in previous six-year terms the services in the sector were subrogated; the training of general practitioners and specialists was lagging behind and the medical units were in deplorable conditions and lacked medicines.

«They went to the extreme of inaugurating hospitals without equipment, the facade. (…) We ran out of doctors, doctors were not trained and we have a deficit of general practitioners and specialists. Now we have the vacancies, the vacancies, but there are no applicants, a terrible, tremendous damage to public health, so we are raising the public health system», he remarked.
