Mexico’s Ministry of Economy presents the Modo STEM Mx Initiative / @tatclouthier @SE_mx >>>

#SE.- The Secretary of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier, presented the STEM Mode Mx Initiative, which seeks to develop a national awareness strategy to articulate the actions of various institutional and social actors to encourage the participation of more adolescent and young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related careers.

The initiative was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Education, the STEM Movement, UN Women, as well as Siemens Mexico, Siemens Stiftung International Foundation and the Inclusion and Diversity Commission of the Business Coordinating Council.

Women’s equal participation is fundamental to boost economic growth and promote social development. According to a UNESCO report[1], women represent only 28% of engineering graduates and 40% of computer science graduates. It also indicates that girls are marginalized in the scientific sphere due to their gender, so their right to participate in scientific progress must be promoted.

The initiative Modo STEM Mx encourages adolescents and young people to participate in STEM areas through vocational guidance, training, mentoring, attendance to virtual events and inspiring stories of women leaders in STEM: www.modostem.mx
