IMSS Technical Council approves reactivation of Magic Lantern Cinema as a space for culture, recreation and health promotion in México / @zoerobledo @Tu_IMSS >>>

#IMSS.- The H. Technical Council of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) approved in ordinary session the request to start operations of the Magic Lantern Cinema, as a space for culture, recreation and health promotion.

Dr. Mauricio Hernández Ávila, Director of Economic and Social Benefits, said that the objective is to recover this iconic space of national history, expand the offer of cultural services with theater and cinema, and encourage in this social security facility the promotion of health, education and sports activities that contribute to people’s wellbeing.

He explained that the reactivation of the building, located in the Independencia Unit of La Magdalena Contreras, will be linked to the Safe and Healthy Workplace Environments (ELSSA) program to promote the prevention of occupational illnesses and accidents.

He commented that the building is being rehabilitated after being abandoned and in poor condition, and will have three halls, a large one with 348 seats and two small halls in the upper part with 47 seats each, which will include high definition movie projectors, a candy store, a pigeon store and wide, safe and comfortable spaces for circulation, among other attractions.

Hernandez Avila said that the rescue was done in alliance with the government of the Magdalena Contreras Mayor’s Office, where the cultural and entertainment offer will be improved, with movie theaters at affordable prices.
