México’s Ministry of Tourism recognizes Green Angels for 62 years of service / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) emphasized that this program was born in 1960 at the initiative of Alfonso García González, and after more than six decades of service, it is now an obligatory point of reference in terms of assistance, mechanical support, guidance and tourist information.

He detailed that, as made known in the Fourth Report of the President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in the period from September 2021 to June 2022, 133 thousand 967 mechanical support services were provided, 352 supports in accidents and a total of 9.4 million kilometers were traveled, all these figures being, on average, three times greater than those obtained in the same period 2020-2021.

«We know that Mexico’s tourism has in the ‘Green Angels’ a great ally, with a high social acceptance, that in the face of new challenges will rise to the occasion, adapting to the changing reality, implementing innovative actions that potentiate the available resources and applying new and effective strategies for the protection of travelers,» he stated.

Torruco Marqués emphasized that, after 20 years of neglect, the current administration is working to modernize the General Directorate of Tourist Services, Ángeles Verdes, with the implementation of the «Alfonso García González Geointelligence Center,» which can now analyze the daily behavior of strategic highway routes in real time, thereby improving incident management, keeping optimal control of routes and evaluating the performance of human capital.
