#GobiernoDeMéxico.- The celebration of the beginning of Mexico’s Independence Day is «a patriotic, unique, exceptional tradition and I feel that now there is a lot of civic fervor,» said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on the eve of September 15.

In a morning conference, the President celebrated that, after two years of holding the commemoration without the participation of the people in Mexico City’s Zócalo to prevent risks during the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, on the 212th Anniversary of the first national transformation, Mexicans will be able to gather in the country’s main square.

In this sense, the President mentioned that «there are few countries in the world that have a history like ours, it is not only cultural greatness, it is historical greatness» and that the night of September 15th is an opportunity to share among families.

The ceremony to be held at the National Palace will be attended by special guests such as the former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales; the former president of Uruguay, José Alberto Mujica; the family of Martin Luther King; the family of Julian Assange and the daughter of Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara, Aleida Guevara.
