Issste’s Cardioprotection Program saves lives and avoids sudden death in México / @drpedrozenteno @ISSSTE_mx >>>

#ISSSTE.- Through the Cardioprotection Program, the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste), with the help of people ready to act in case of emergency, saves lives and prevents cases of sudden death due to cardiovascular diseases, mainly myocardial infarction, informed the General Director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella.

The program, explained the head of the agency, consists of enabling people to identify a patient with signs of myocardial infarction, provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and apply shocks with automatic electric defibrillator (AED) equipment, within the first three to five minutes of the emergency, when it is possible to limit damage and prevent death from this cause.

To measure the impact of these conditions, the statistical yearbook reports that the institute recorded 17,705 hospital admissions due to heart disease and 600 deaths due to acute myocardial infarction in 2021, as stated in the Issste Statistical Yearbook 2021 https://bit.ly/3Cbzwn9.

This protocol is part of the strategy of the preventive health model promoted by the Regulatory Health Directorate (DNS) to reduce the impact of cardiac pathologies, the leading cause of death in Mexico and the world.
