#SICT.- The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) issued a modification to the standard on protection barriers on highways and urban roads, with the purpose of providing a catalog of protection systems that can be installed on highways and urban roads in national territory and meet the demand of conservation, modernization and construction works carried out by federal, state and municipal governments.

A term of nine months is established as of the entry into force of this MODIFICATION to continue using the products previously approved by the SICT with the criteria established in the MASH, raises the Mexican Official Standard NOM-037-SCT2-2020 as amended.

During this period, manufacturers and distributors of protective devices must update the certificate of compliance, in accordance with the provisions of this NOM-037-SCT2-2020, Protective barriers on highways and urban roads.

It explains that the Mexican Official Standard NOM-037-SCT2-2020 is supported by the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH), published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) in 2009 and 2016, which contains guidelines and criteria for selecting protective barriers that have been duly approved by the Federal Highway Administration in the United States of America.
