#SEP.- No child or adolescent in a situation of migration will be excluded from their right to enter a school and obtain a quality education on equal terms with other students in the country, said the Undersecretary of Basic Education, Martha Velda Hernández Moreno.

At the head of the workshop for the implementation of the Protocol for Access to Education for Children and Adolescents in Migration Situations, she explained that the instrument addresses the regulations on access and school control to ensure that every child or adolescent in a migration situation who enters Mexican territory is enrolled in school, thus eliminating the barriers that currently prevent it.

He informed that the protocol was developed within the framework of the Educational Inclusion of Children and Adolescents in Migration Situations project, in which the Ministries of Public Education (SEP) and Foreign Affairs (SRE) participate through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (Amexcid), the Mexican Commission for Refugee Aid (Comar); the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), and German cooperation through the Mexico-Germany Joint Fund.

Hernández Moreno considered the inclusion protocol to be one of the most outstanding achievements, together with the Regional Policy for the Recognition, Validation and Accreditation of Learning Results between Central American countries and Mexico, signed by nations of the Central American Integration System (SICA).
