Mexican President guarantees constitutionality of electoral reforms in favor of democracy / @lopezobrador_ @GobiernoMX >>>

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador indicated that the reforms in electoral matters respect what is established in the Constitution, for which reason the clause referring to the transfer of votes between political parties will be eliminated in February, in order to guarantee a true democracy in the country.

«It has already been revised; both the Secretary of the Interior and the legal counselor (of the Federal Executive) commented to me that the approval of both the Chamber of Deputies and the Chamber of Senators this year will be firm and, in February, the process of elimination of the articles or of the article that had been introduced regarding the sum of votes will be carried out», he emphasized.

In a morning press conference, he pointed out that the legislators are in agreement with the elimination of this term, for which he trusted that these modifications will promote democratic principles.

«The adversaries are going to go to the Court to ask for it to be declared unconstitutional, but there is nothing unconstitutional. Of course, it will be the competent authority, in this case, the Supreme Court, that will rule. I am very happy because they did not get away with maintaining the privileges in INE,» he said.

These reforms, he said, will be thoroughly reviewed in order to respect the law. «It does not take us time, because it still applies to before the presidential election, we have time», he pointed out.
