#GobiernoDeMéxico.- The Mexican government is developing the southeast of the country by investing in priority projects such as the Mayan Train. In addition, it protects the environment and the cultural wealth of the region, assured President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

In a morning press conference in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, he affirmed that the Mayan Train is the largest railway project in the world and will allow national and foreign tourism to get to know the beauty of archeological sites in the Mayan world.

«With the train we will be looking for people who come to Cancun -around 30 million visitors- instead of staying in Cancun or going as far as Playa del Carmen, they will be able to go into all of Quintana Roo: Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Bacalar and Chetumal», he argued.

The supervision days in all the sections of the Mayan Train, he said, will be every fifteen days until its inauguration in December 2023, in order to know the progress of this project that will give welfare to Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

«I started visiting the work every month, then every three weeks and now I will be every fifteen days, so if I don’t do it by helicopter I could not travel the 1,554 kilometers, but I also talk to the people and go to the communities. I have always said that the best thing is the territory, not the desk», he pointed out.
