#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced the expansion of the Fertilizers for Wellbeing program throughout the country with the aim of benefiting two million small producers, which will consolidate food self-sufficiency, mainly in basic grains such as corn, beans and rice.

«It is going to be free fertilizer for two million producers, especially for peasants with few hectares, some who plant half a hectare, one hectare, two hectares (…) It is well said that ‘without corn, there is no country’ and we are very pleased that these programs reach all regions, even the most remote villages», he explained.

In a morning press conference, the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Víctor Manuel Villalobos Arámbula, informed that the new stage of free delivery will strengthen production in 3 million hectares in the Republic, most of which are dedicated to corn and beans, with a budget of 16,684 million pesos.

The logistics to reach the most remote communities include the movement of one million tons of fertilizer in the national territory. Twenty-seven thousand transportation units from Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Seguridad Alimentaria Mexicana (Segalmex), the National Guard, as well as state and municipal governments will be used.
