#BocaDelRío, #Ver.- The Mayor of Boca del Río, Juan Manuel Unánue Abascal, led the commemoration of International Women’s Day, committing to achieve a path of equality and a life free of gender violence in the municipality.

«We begin March being clear that it is a month to redouble our efforts to conquer new spaces to raise awareness about the problems that women, adolescents and girls live every day in this municipality,» mentioned the Mayor.

The Municipal President emphasized that in the first 14 months of government, specific actions have been carried out with the firm conviction of mainstreaming public policies with a gender perspective.

For this reason, Boca del Río was the first municipality in the entire state of Veracruz to appoint gender liaisons in each of the municipal government offices, as well as the first to publish the work plan of the Municipal System for Equality between Women and Men and a Life Free of Violence.

Unánue Abascal mentioned that his administration also joined the citizens’ initiative «3 out of 3 against violence against women», which proposes three basic points as a requirement to hold elected office or to work in public service: not to be in debt for alimony, not to be a sexual harasser and not to be a gender-based aggressor.
