#SE.- In order to support the producers of the State of Mexico, the Government of the State of Mexico, through the Secretariat of the Countryside, delivered various Catastrophic Agricultural Insurance and Farmers’ Life Insurance supports to families in the municipalities of Aculco and Polotitlán.

In this regard, the head of the Secretariat of the Countryside, Leticia Mejía García, recalled that, through the Rural Investment Mixed Fund of the State of Mexico (FOMIMEX), the Government of the entity operates the Catastrophic Agricultural Insurance for the insurance of corn crops and harvests, against extreme weather disasters, as this is considered the most important productive crop in the entity, since the entity currently ranks third in national corn production.

She said that this insurance provides economic support to mitigate part of the losses caused by the presence of meteorological phenomena, and has no cost for the producer.

Leticia Mejía also pointed out that in the past spring-summer 2022 agricultural cycle, nearly 450,000 hectares of corn were insured, which represents almost 97 percent of the total area planted with corn in the state of Edoméx.

Accompanied by the Municipal President of Polotitlán, Teresita Sánchez Bárcena, and the President of Aculco, Jorge Alfredo Osornio Victoria, the Secretary of Agriculture highlighted the support that Governor Alfredo Del Mazo has provided to the state’s farming families through different actions, such as this insurance, which is the only one of its kind in the country.
