IMSS-Bienestar has added 4,704 medical specialists and will serve 66.4 million Mexicans: Zoé Robledo / @zoerobledo @Tu_IMSS >>>

#IMSS.- The Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, presented the progress of the IMSS-Bienestar model and informed that 4,704 medical doctors and specialists have been incorporated in 11 states, where the implementation has already been carried out in the health units of the state governments.

During the press conference held at the National Palace, headed by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Zoé Robledo pointed out that IMSS-Bienestar is in the process of being implemented in Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí, while eight more states are targeted for the second quarter of the year and three other states will be added as of July.

He indicated that there are 66.4 million Mexicans in the country who do not have any social security coverage and are attended by state governments that transfer their health services to IMSS-Bienestar.

«We started with a program that had 11 million people served, 17 percent of the total population without social security; by the close of 2022, in the nine states where we started: Nayarit, Tlaxcala, Colima, Sonora, Sinaloa, Baja California Sur, Veracruz, Guerrero and Campeche, we reached 33 percent of this universe.»

He highlighted that, in the first quarter of this year, with the implementation of IMSS-Bienestar in Michoacán, Morelos, San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas, 26.4 million Mexicans were reached, representing 39.8 percent of the population.
