#GobiernoDeMéxico.- During the commemoration of Labor Day, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador affirmed that the Mexican Government strengthens labor rights with justice and union freedom.

«You can be sure that under the same criteria of legality, democracy, union freedom and justice for workers, we will continue to conduct ourselves during the rest of the time we have left in office (…) We are different because we are free and we are democrats, but we must always be united, and that is what we are demonstrating, love for the people and the homeland,» he stressed before union members of the country.

In the Treasury Hall of the National Palace, he assured that the federation acts independently «as a true judge and is not only at the service of businessmen or bankers».

In four years of the Government of the Fourth Transformation, the minimum wage increased by 90 percent in real terms, profit sharing increased and there are favorable conditions for workers to democratize their unions through a free and secret vote, he highlighted.

At the same time, he said, the public servants of the Ministry of Labor are not imposed by the powerful, abuses against employees are not allowed and collective bargaining agreements are subject to consultation with the workers, in contrast to previous six-year periods.

The President reaffirmed his support and solidarity with the working class, which has had no strikes or union protests since the beginning of his administration, thanks to the policies for the welfare of the working sector.
