#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, stated that the Integral Program for the Development of Projects in Cancun, Quintana Roo, which includes the connection of the Cancun Airport to the Mayan Train station, is 50 percent complete, the study for environmental mitigation and the selection of the rolling stock is already in the evaluation phase.

At a press conference held by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the National Palace, the head of the SICT said that in the infrastructure works being carried out in Cancun, the most important thing is to take care of the environment, which is why mitigation measures are included.

For every 20 hectares with environmental impact, these are compensated with 353 hectares located in the regional system, through the integral management of vegetation, fauna and waste, and the installation of nurseries. «The mitigation measures are aimed at improving the quality of the wetlands in the lagoon system,» he emphasized.

As for the four works that are part of said project, which will all be toll-free and will benefit 1.3 million inhabitants of the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Solidaridad, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres and more than 20 million tourists traveling to that destination without the need for extra fees, both workers and travelers will be able to use these roads to connect from the conurbation zone to the airport and the hotel zone.
