#ISSSTE.- The Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) plans to leave a programmed budget for ten hospital construction projects in the same number of states, informed the general director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, during a working tour of medical units in the state.

One day President Andrés Manuel López Obrador asked me: «What does Issste need to recover its greatness? And I answered him: 32 general hospitals to mitigate the 30-year backlog in its infrastructure. That is why today we are working on ten proposals to leave resources labeled in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) and carry them out, even with the change of administration.»

This guarantees the continuity of the projects, since, as they are labeled, they cannot be used for anything else, explained the Issste general director, while talking to medical and nursing staff and beneficiaries of the Hospital Clinic (CH) in Manzanillo, the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) in Tecomán, the Family Care Clinic (CAF) in Armería and the Estancia para el Bienestar y Desarrollo Infantil (EBDI) 122.

Colima could be one of the states where it is possible to build a general hospital with 150 census beds, since the «Dr. Miguel Trejo Ochoa» Hospital Clinic is more than 50 years old, is completely outdated, provides coverage to 62,733 beneficiaries and its facilities have not grown at the same pace. «What is the solution? A second level Issste hospital in the state,» he said.
