Mexico’s participation in the International Convention on Biotechnology «BIO 2023» is noteworthy / @SRE_mx @m_ebrard >>>

#SRE.- The Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), together with the Mexican Consulate in Boston -under the direction of Consul Alberto Fierro Garza- announces the conclusion of the successful development of the Mexican Pavilion at the BIO International Convention 2023. This important achievement adds to the performance of the Mexican delegation at the 2022 edition of the Convention, held in San Diego, California, thus reaffirming the presence of our country in this event of global relevance. On behalf of the agency, the general director of cooperation policy, Dr. Javier Davila, and the general director of planning and evaluation, Carlos Javier Castillo Perez, participated.

This year’s BIO International Convention brought together nearly 20,000 leaders in the global biotechnology industry, creating a favorable scenario for innovation, the exchange of ideas and the creation of strategic collaborations that promote scientific progress and the development of solutions with a positive impact on people’s health and wellbeing.

The Mexican delegation was composed of 16 organizations from the biotechnology sector, including pharmaceutical companies, biobanks, research institutions, CROs (Contract Research Organizations), technology transfer offices, consulting and management support firms and for the first time the participation of 6 Mexican start-ups, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate the talent of Mexican entrepreneurship thanks to the sponsorship of GrupoT and ITRASIG who sponsored them.

The Mexican pavilion at BIO hosted important meetings and visits, such as that of Manel Balcells, Minister of Health of the Government of Catalonia, with whom it was agreed to initiate a collaboration project with the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, and the presence of Linda Buchanan, mayor of the city of North Vancouver, with whom a dialogue was held on capacity building for the transfer of innovation technologies.
