#EstadoDeMéxico.- Governor Alfredo Del Mazo Maza informed that, as a result of the effort and permanent work of thousands of families dedicated to the care of forests, as well as various strategies implemented by his administration, the forest mass of the State of Mexico increased by more than 15 thousand hectares and more than 36 thousand hectares were recovered and incorporated into the forest area, in addition to achieving a 6 percent increase in the area of forest vegetation in the last five years.
At the presentation of the State Forestry and Soil Inventory of the State of Mexico 2022, the Mexican President emphasized that the state is the only one in the country that increases its forest area year after year, which is a great advance and represents a challenge to continue working and maintain the pace of forest growth, through the development of technology and infrastructure, training, promotion of commercial forest plantations for productive reconversion, the opening of markets for timber and non-timber products, among other actions.
«This inventory that we are presenting evidenced that there is an increase in the surface and forest mass of the state, that is, what we have been saying that it is a state that grows its forest table year after year, with this inventory it is already documented that it is a state that is growing its forest mass thanks to the work of all of you, of all of you and of many families that help us take care of our forests.
«The forest area increased by more than 15,000 hectares compared to the last five years and more than 36,000 hectares were recovered and incorporated into the forested area, we also managed to increase the area of forest vegetation by 6 percent,» he said.
In the greenhouse nursery that houses the SEDAGRO complex in Metepec, where representatives of ejidos and communal properties from different municipalities were present, Del Mazo Maza explained that this inventory was carried out by a great work team and, as a result, this document validates the growth of the forest mass in the entity, besides being a tool that allows recognizing improvements and making decisions focused on the preservation of forests, besides knowing the state, location, quantity and other data of the natural resources to have updated information.
