#EstadoDeVeracruz.- Governor Cuitláhuac García Jiménez formalized agreements with executive authorities of Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí and Nuevo León, in order to establish communication and exchange strategies to maintain interstate security, mainly in border areas, and thus continue the fight against crime rates.

At a joint press conference, he announced that the four states are averaging a 40 percent decrease in intentional homicides and that this agreement will allow for an even greater reduction in violent acts, highlighting that as of today they are already working in an integrated manner with all neighboring states.

Since the beginning of the administration, the State Coordination for the Construction of Peace has prioritized the strengthening of intelligence units and the dismantling of criminal organizations, also reducing their weapons, mobility and financing capabilities, in addition to increasing the police force.

In terms of kidnappings, the reduction is 88.26 percent between 2019 and 2022, from 298 to 35 cases, and that of homicides is 50.41 percent from 2017 to 2022, from 1,722 to 854 criminal acts. As of May 31, Veracruz ranks 26th in overall crime per 100,000 inhabitants.

The host governor, Américo Villarreal Anaya, emphasized that the message to the population is clear and that this regional integration implies a constructive vision that will contribute to citizen confidence and the social perception of security, all under the model proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his welfare policy without parallel in national history.

The document was also signed by the President of San Luis Potosí, José Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, and the Secretary General of the Government of Nuevo León, Javier Luis Navarro Velasco; Governor Cuitláhuac García was accompanied by the Secretary of Public Security, Cuauhtémoc Zúñiga Bonilla.
