Monterrey city councilors support reforestation of the city / @mtygob @colosioriojas >>>

#Monterrey, #N.L.- The Government of Monterrey, through the Secretariat of Public Services, with the support of members of the City Council, the Nuevo Leon Province Scouts Group and neighbors from the southern area, planted trees in the Arroyo Seco neighborhood park, south of the city.

In synergy, Councilwomen Cristina Salina, Claudia Cantú and the scouts are seeking the UN certification called «Tree Cities», which recognizes the commitment of cities to the creation of urban forests.

«As part of the actions we are carrying out to have a more sustainable Monterrey, we are going to the parks of different neighborhoods to plant trees and combat climate change with these activities,» said Cristina Salinas, coordinator of the Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change Commission.

The oak trees were placed in different areas of the park and will be cared for jointly by the neighbors and the Monterrey Public Services Department.

The activity was carried out within the framework of National Tree Day, which has been celebrated since 1959 in mid-July.
