México announces Repair Plan at Goodyear’s San Luis Potosí tire manufacturing facility / @SE_mx >>>

#Economía.- The governments of Mexico and the United States agreed to a Remediation Plan with respect to Goodyear’s San Luis Potosi, Mexico tire manufacturing plant (Goodyear-SLP), which addresses the issues raised in the request for review under the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism of the Mexico-U.S.-Canada Agreement (T-MEC).

Throughout the review, Goodyear cooperated fully with the authorities of both governments and reinforced its continued commitment to labor and union rights, as well as freedom of association and collective bargaining.

Pursuant to the Federal Labor Law (LFT), the Mexican Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) determined that the Goodyear-SLP Contract Law of the Rubber Transformation Industry into Manufactured Products («Contract Law») provides more beneficial benefits to unionized workers involved in the transformation of rubber into finished products and related activities, without prejudice to any collective bargaining agreement covering the facility in question.

The Remediation Plan includes several actions and commitments aimed at ensuring the effective application of the LFT, in order to guarantee that the workers of such facility obtain the benefits to which they are entitled under the LFT and the Contract Law, in addition to providing training and support to the internal voting processes to the workers. The STPS and the Centro Federal de Conciliación y Registro Laboral will monitor the due compliance with the remediation plan.
