The IMSS works in coordination with the STPS to comply with the purpose of the Labor Outsourcing Reform / @zoerobledo @Tu_IMSS >>>

#IMSS.- The main purpose of the Reform on labor subcontracting is to give certainty to labor relations and give workers and their families full access to social security.

Thus, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) implements several actions, including a strategic coordination scheme with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) by virtue of which, if indications of the use of illegal schemes that affect workers’ rights are identified, the STPS exercises inspection powers. This, in turn, provides the IMSS with greater elements for the exercise of its own verification powers.

Two years after the entry into force of the Reform, it should be noted that the workers concerned have obtained the following benefits:

• 2.9 million were recognized by their actual employer.
• By being recognized by the real employer, they now enjoy medical, pharmaceutical and hospital care; disability benefits for general illness, work-related accidents and work-related illnesses; disability and life pensions, and retirement savings, as well as social benefits such as day care and wakes.
• Increase in their base contribution salary, from $469 to $597; that is, an increase of 27.4%. Moreover, in the case of women, the increase was 29% (according to data from November 2020 to July 2022).

Likewise, the IMSS has communicated to the STPS the compliance with the social security obligations of providers of specialized services or executors of specialized works, so that -within the scope of its attributions- the STPS may determine either the continuity of the respective registrations or their cancellation by virtue of the fact that a provider is in breach of the requirements that confer entry to the Registry of Providers of Specialized Services or Specialized Works (REPSE) of the STPS.
