#Economía.- The Secretary of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro, the Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs of Grupo Modelo, Raúl Escalante, and the President of Millfoods, Pilar Gutiérrez, announced an investment of 300 million dollars for the construction of the largest and most advanced corn processing plant in the region for the production of beer.

The project will generate more than 1,000 jobs, impact one million people and benefit 20,000 corn producers in the Bajío region by 2024 when the project is completed in Salamanca, Guanajuato. The plant will be the most technologically advanced corn processing plant for brewing grits in Mexico. Its dry production cycle minimizes water use, accelerating the transition to a more sustainable and innovative agribusiness.

The Secretary of Economy highlighted the relevance of the project, because it reflects the confidence of Mexican and foreign investors in the country, while recognizing the work that many companies are doing to work with the community.

«This announcement contributes to the good business environment. Investment in Mexico is at an all-time high and is generating decent jobs, which are the key to eliminating poverty and inequality,» said Secretary Buenrostro.

The Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs of Grupo Modelo highlighted Grupo Modelo’s commitment to Mexico and, in particular, to Mexican farmers, by substituting imported corn for domestic production from the center of the country for the production of beer.
