#SEP.- Mexico’s teachers are the most prepared to work on projects for the 2023-2024 school year, according to the daily needs of their students, said the Secretary of Public Education, Leticia Ramirez Amaya.

While participating in the first session of the School Technical Council for the 2023-2024 cycle -which is being held in basic education schools throughout the country- at the «Thailandia» elementary school, located in the Álvaro Obregón district of Mexico City, the SEP head explained that those who say they are not trained for it, is because they do not agree with the promotion of this paradigmatic change in education, in which the aim is to build a country with social justice.

He pointed out that currently a pedagogical proposal is being implemented that takes into account the autonomy and professionalization of teachers, and recalled that «for many years, almost 30, 25 years, there was a campaign against the work of teachers; denigrating what we do, denigrating it, as if we were not education professionals and also a campaign that everything private was better than public schools».

He emphasized the importance of defending the public school, since in it there are teachers who were prepared to be educators and have a vocation of service and knowledge of the reality of the different areas and regions of the country.

He reaffirmed his conviction, together with the other educational authorities, to place the welfare of children and adolescents at the center, always recognizing the work of teachers as a professional activity.
