#Ecatepec, #Edoméx.- Antonia is one of the 300 people who have benefited from the free cataract surgery program, «Una Mirada DIFerente» implemented by the DIF of Ecatepec from 2019 to date.

Antonia Bonilla Huerta, 47, was visited at her home in the Ciudad Cuauhtémoc neighborhood by municipal president Fernando Vilchis Contreras and the honorary president of the DIF, Esmeralda Vallejo Martínez, to learn about her state of health after she underwent cataract surgery on her left eye in July.

Vallejo Martinez commented that the social support was carried out as part of the free cataract surgery program called «Una Mirada DIFerente» (A DIFerent Look) that was launched in 2019. She explained that said program was suspended during the pandemic and was resumed this year with the support of the Cinepolis Foundation and the Hospital de la Luz, where Antonia was treated.

Esmeralda Vallejo informed that to date, 300 eye surgeries have been performed, mainly on senior citizens of Ecatepec.

Accompanied by her children, Antonia, who has lived in the municipality for more than 30 years, thanked the government of Ecatepec for its support. «I am happy, because thanks to the surgery they gave me my life back again, and I am here again with my family, at work and resuming my usual activities. I thank the president of DIF Esmeralda, because thanks to her I was able to resume my life again and resume my activities and not depend on anyone.»

Esmeralda Vallejo Martínez indicated that out of the 1,667,687 inhabitants of Ecatepec, there are 530,149 people with some visual ailment, so she said it is important to provide this support and above all to follow up on the health status of those who have benefited.
