#Tecámac, #Edoméx.- People of Tecámac expressed their creativity and talent in the Fifth Catrinas Contest “extinct trades”, which was carried out as part of the various activities on the occasion of the Day of the Dead, and which were awarded by the municipal president of Tecámac, Mariela Gutiérrez Escalante.

On this occasion, the mayoress, with the approval of the qualifying jury, awarded an additional prize to all participants who did not place within the first three places, as a way of rewarding their efforts.

The first place was obtained by the representation of the tlaquichera catrina, an ancient craft to extract pulque from the magueyales; The second was for the photographer Catrina and the third for the typist Catrina.

The mayoress expressed her gratitude to the participants and urged them to continue with her interest in preserving the celebration of the Day of the Dead, which is one of our traditions with the greatest roots in our culture and representativeness of the Mexican people.

She arranged for all participants to receive a prize of three thousand pesos each, while for first place it was 10 thousand pesos, second, nine thousand and third place eight thousand pesos.

The president, the director of the DIF Tecámac, María Isabel Muñoz and Carlos Galindo, respectively, were present at the award ceremony; the director of ODAPAS, Samuel Hernández; the director of Education and Culture, Valeria Olivares, and the councilors Rosy Wong, Gilberto Gómez, María de la Luz Gutiérrez, Erick Olivares and Lorenzo Gutiérrez.

The qualifying jury was made up of the Secretary of Education and Culture, Valeria Olivares; the Deputy Director of Culture, Jorge Monroy; the head of the Social Communication Unit of the municipal government, Hugo Otilio Delgadillo, the plastic artist and muralist Carlos Reyes, the plastic artist, Juan Ovando Laiza.
