#BenitoJuárez, #CDMX.- The Benito Juarez City Council unanimously approved the issuance of a Regulatory Bylaw, the only one of its kind in Mexico City, to regulate the activity of people who walk pets in the district.

During the ordinary session, headed by Jaime Mata Salas, in charge of the mayor’s office, it was informed that this action complements the legislation on animal protection and compliance with the rules of Civic Culture through the regulation of a growing activity that has brought many benefits to the community.

It is worth noting that, according to INEGI data from February 2022, 61.4% of households in Mexico City have pets, so this instrument contributes and encourages owners to responsible ownership and that dog walkers have the proper training to perform their activity, either for free or paid.

During the session, the councilmen and councilwomen present were in favor of the approval of this ordinance, which complies with a regulation to prevent risks and protect the physical integrity of people, public health and welfare of companion animals in the unregulated activity of animal walkers.

It also regulates the conditions under which this activity is carried out, in addition to the creation of a registry, with the purpose of keeping track of those who responsibly carry out this work for a good quality of life for the animals.
