Boca del Río, first municipality in the country with the «Sembrando Ciudades» project, highlights Mayor JM Unánue / @JM_UNANUE @_BocadelRio >>>

#BocaDelRío, #Ver.- «Sembrando Ciudades» is a project that seeks to promote resilient communities in the face of climate change through the implementation of demonstration projects using nature-based solutions and participatory processes that promote adaptation to climate change.

It is an initiative of the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (SEDATU), the Boca del Río City Council, Comex por un México Bien Hecho, the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) Mexico, through its project Sustainable Development of Urban Coastal Regions (BIOCITIS), in coordination with the civil society organizations Colectivo Tomate and Revive.

«Urban resilience as a strategy for adaptation to climate change calls us to continue adding actions hand in hand with the population and civil society, that is the call and also my commitment to preserve, improve and expand green infrastructure under a public health approach that strengthens the tourism sector, education and the welfare of our community,» emphasized the mayor of Boca del Rio, Juan Manuel Unánue Abascal.

The main objective of this initiative is to recover public spaces through various strategies and methods of community participation based on nature, as well as to encourage dialogue on environmental care and biocultural diversity.

One of the scenarios chosen to launch this project was the Parque Lineal Dren B located in the Carranza neighborhood, which was selected as a work site because it faces challenges such as the heat island effect due to the pavement and the lack of shade, which also limits visits to nighttime hours only.
