#ISSSTE.- In order to improve the health services provided by the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste), personnel from the Hospital Regional de Puebla inaugurated the Hemato-oncology Outpatient Unit, which brings together in the same space all the care for those suffering from different types of cancer.

The director of the hospital, Arsenio Torres Delgado, pointed out that, in order to provide better treatment and strengthen the facilities, this place has been set up to offer humane care to people with oncological conditions, as well as to provide them with more efficient access to services involved in their treatment.

The new facilities have consulting rooms, a chemotherapy room, an operating room and a reading area for patients and their families, who can access some of the titles donated to the small library to make their stay more pleasant.

The Puebla Regional Hospital serves patients from Puebla, as well as from Oaxaca, Veracruz, Tlaxcala, Morelos and Guerrero, which make up Region VII of Issste in the country.

Coverage is 1,429,341 people. Meanwhile, 0.9 percent of consultations, equivalent to 220 thousand per year, are provided to users of the Oncology Service, who will benefit from the new facilities of the Ambulatory Hemato-oncology Unit.

The most common oncological pathologies in the region are: breast, cervical, prostate, rectum and lymphoma cancer. Hence the importance of enabling and having a dignified and functional space.
