SICT and iRAP sign memorandum of understanding to reinforce highway safety / @jorgenunol @SICTmx >>>

#SICT.- The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) and the International Road Assessment Program (iRAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the purpose of reinforcing safety on the country’s highways and preventing accidents.

The objective is to formalize a non-exclusive cooperation framework that facilitates collaboration between this organization and the Government of Mexico, through the SICT, to promote programs and projects that save lives and generate greater benefits for Mexican society.

On behalf of the Undersecretary of Transportation, Rogelio Jiménez Pons, the Director General of Federal Motor Transport (DGAF), Laura Nohemi Muñoz Benítez, emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum is a priority to save human lives and strengthen safety on the country’s highways.

She emphasized that the objective is to prevent and stop taking actions to correct problems. Hence the importance of this Agreement and in compliance with the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 (promoted by the United Nations, which aims to prevent at least 50% of deaths and injuries), as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In this regard, Muñoz Benítez highlighted that the SICT has recovered the Operative 30 Delta, with surveillance on the highways in which the General Directorate of Protection and Preventive Medicine in Transportation, Federal Autotransport and the National Guard participate, with the purpose of reducing deaths on the highways.
