#IMSS.- The Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, informed that with an investment of more than 22.9 billion pesos for medical equipment, rehabilitation of hospitals and dignification of spaces in 23 states where IMSS Bienestar operates, medical attention in surgeries, childbirths, specialty and family medicine consultations was increased for the benefit of people without social security.
At the press conference held by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, at the National Palace, Zoé Robledo explained that 8,310 doctors have been hired, 14,652 million pesos were invested in the purchase of medical equipment and 8,260 million pesos were invested in the conservation and dignification of medical units.
He explained that when comparing the monthly productivity in the January-March 2022 quarter with the August-October 2023 quarter, Specialty consultations increased from 278 thousand to 407 thousand, which represents an increase of 46 percent; Family Medicine consultations increased from 210 thousand to 280 thousand, that is, more than 33 percent; from 53 thousand surgeries to 60 thousand, which is an increase of 12 percent; and from 21 thousand 402 to 25 thousand 682, which represents an increase of 20 percent.
Zoé Robledo detailed the increase in monthly productivity in each of the 23 states; in Nayarit, Specialty consultations went from 3,967 to 14,004 (253%); in Family Medicine consultations from 2,269 to 8,842 (290%); surgeries from 745 to 1,341 (80%) and births attended from 296 to 592.
In Tlaxcala, specialty consultations increased from 4,200 to 14,300 (236%), family medicine consultations from 3,500 to 6,130 (75%), surgeries from 568 to 1,295 (138%) and births attended from 158 to 321 (103%).
The General Director of Social Security indicated that in Colima, Specialty consultations increased from 2,650 to 7,129 (169%) and Family Medicine consultations from 262 to 1,947 (213%), surgeries from 658 to 724 (10%) and births attended from 334 to 341.
