#GobiernoDeMéxico.- The most important thing about this historic day is that we rescued the airline after acts of corruption and the handing over of public assets to private individuals during the neoliberal period, said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador upon receiving the report of the inaugural flight that took off from the «Felipe Ángeles» International Airport (AIFA) to the new «Felipe Carrillo Puerto» Tulum International Airport.

«It is really quite an event that this airline, an emblem of Mexicans, which has to do with our history, is flying again. I believe that many Mexicana workers feel very satisfied today, very happy: those who are retiring, those who due to circumstances are no longer on this line, and also remember those who went before us, but here is their tribute: Mexicana flying again.»

The chief of state said that entrusting this company to the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) is due to the need for a strong institution of the Mexican State in charge of the new public works that are carried out with everyone’s money so that privatizations do not return, so an efficient, professional and honest administration is required with elements that have dedicated their lives to the service of the homeland.

«The people had many companies. When we talk about public companies, they are the people’s companies; for example: Mexicana and Aeroméxico, all the railroads, ports, airports, telephone companies, most of the banks; all the mining companies, oil production, the entire electricity industry… And suddenly new rulers arrive with the idea that these public companies had to pass into the hands of private individuals, and a great fraud is carried out.
