Cetis and CBTIS students triumph in international physics and science competitions / @Letamaya @SEP_mx >>>

#SEP.- Students from the Centro de Estudios Tecnológico Industrial y de Servicios (Cetis) 78 of Altamira, Tamaulipas and the Centro de Bachillerato Tecnológico Industrial y de Servicios (CBTIS) 46 of San Luis Potosí, both subsystems of Educación Media Superior of the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP), won first and second place in international physics and science competitions, respectively.

Cetis 78 student, José Alberto Cortez Martínez, and as part of the Mexican team made up of students from Nuevo León, Michoacán, Jalisco and Tamaulipas, won a gold medal at the VIII Central American and Caribbean Physics Olympiad 2023 (OCCAF), held in November in Comayagua, Honduras, after obtaining an average of 39 out of 50 points in complex physics problems.

Paloma Abigail Torres Aguillón, a student from CBTIS 46 in San Luis Potosí, won second place in the Chile 2023 National Science Expo, held in November in Santiago, with the Pronatura project, which consists of the production of probiotics from cabbage.

Nine countries participated in OCCAF 2023: Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Peru.

José Alberto Cortez Martínez, an electronics student, has participated in state and national physics olympiads since 2022.
