#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador followed up on the actions taken by the Mexican Government for the benefit of the population of Acapulco and Coyuca de Benítez, municipalities where the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) will extend the suspension of electricity payments in the two-month periods March-April and May-June.

In a morning press conference in Guerrero, the Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde Luján, informed that this decision is due to the upcoming hot season; the term established in the General Plan for reconstruction and support to the population affected in Acapulco and Coyuca de Benítez by Hurricane Otis ended on February 29.

«We are going to extend the support to the non-payment of electricity by the Federal Electricity Commission (…) We know that there are hot seasons coming, Easter is coming, summer is coming, there is an important expense and, in order to continue collaborating and helping, supporting the families of Acapulco, we are making this announcement where this payment will be suspended», highlighted the head of Segob.

Meanwhile, the official called on the population to save electricity, «that we use it rationally. We know that there is a commitment from all of us».
