SICT reports progress and actions completed in Acapulco after reconstruction after hurricane OTIS/ @jorgenunol @SICTmx >>>

#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, stated that after the reconstruction of Acapulco’s International Airport following Hurricane Otis, international flights to and from Dallas and Houston, in the United States, will begin in May.

In a press conference before President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to report the progress of the works in Guerrero, the head of the SICT said that, as soon as the storm occurred, on October 27, 2023, air operations for humanitarian aid began from the Acapulco International Airport.

Days later, on November 13, commercial operations by airlines began. Currently, the reconstruction of the air terminal is 80 percent complete and will be finished in March 2024.

The perimeter fence is completed, the Control Tower is operational, the terminal building roof is restored, the general aviation area is waterproofed (with restored interiors), the baggage belts are installed and operational, and the general aviation interiors are restored.

Nuño Lara highlighted that, among the reconstruction work in Guerrero, 7 road infrastructure projects are being carried out with a total investment of 281 million pesos, which will be concluded in May of this year.
