#ISSSTE.- On the International Day against Childhood Cancer, which is commemorated today, the new Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste) dignifies the care of children and adolescents by completely remodeling the hospitalization area of the Pediatric Oncology Service of the National Medical Center (CMN) «20 de Noviembre», informed the general director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella.

The Administration Directorate, whose head is Almendra Ortiz Genis, in coordination with the Deputy Director of Administration of this nososomium, Carmen Saavedra Vázquez, and the Head of the Pediatric Oncology Service, Farina Esther Arreguín González, was responsible for carrying out the works that benefit patients from all over the country who receive multidisciplinary treatment in these facilities.

«The warmth and humanization in the treatment of beneficiaries, and in particular of infants with some type of cancer, is extremely important,» said Blanca Olivia Almazán García, a pediatric oncologist at the hospital.

Each one of the 19-bed rooms was transformed and decorated with a special theme for the different age groups, she explained, the purpose was to create a cozy, friendly and warm space for our patients, mothers, fathers or guardians who accompany them.

Pastel colors were used to create an effect of harmony, softness and to make the patient feel at ease, «It is very important that each room is to the liking of the little ones, this has a great impact on their emotional state and on how they receive treatment».
