Hotel occupancy grows 2.8 percentage points in 2023 to reach 59.6% / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) informed that the cities registered a hotel occupancy rate of 53.7%, while the beach resorts reached 66.3%; meanwhile, the Integrally Planned Centers have the highest occupancy rate with 72% and the lowest occupancy rate in the interior cities with 48.4%.

He pointed out that from January-December 2023 the resorts that stand out for hotel occupancy are: Playacar with 84.2%, Akumal with 82.1%, Cabo San Lucas with 76.8%, Cancun with 75.6%, Nuevo Nayarit with 73.6% and Puerto Vallarta with 72%, these being the highest occupancy levels.

Torruco Marqués reported that tourist arrivals to hotel rooms during 2023 were 86.1 million tourists; of which 63.4 million were domestic tourists, that is 73.7% of the total; while 22.7 million were foreigners, representing 26.3% of the total, in the 70 centers monitored by DataTur.

Cities registered 48.5 million tourists to hotel rooms, while beach resorts received 37.6 million tourists to hotel rooms from January to December 2023.

The Secretary of Tourism emphasized that the increase in hotel occupancy stands out, since the number of hotel rooms in Mexico reached 881 thousand 22 rooms, which means 76 thousand 515 rooms more than in 2019, that is, an increase of 9.0% more, consolidating our country as the seventh power in hotel infrastructure.

This in turn translates into jobs and economic spillover in Mexico’s destinations, in compliance with the instruction of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to make tourism a tool for social reconciliation.
