#ISSSTE.- In order to prevent and guarantee access to health services for the entire population, the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste) offers vaccines, prostate antigen tests, glucose tests and no-scalpel vasectomies to men, whether or not they are members, as part of the «February, Men’s Health Month» program, informed Rocío González Gutiérrez, medical sub-delegate of the Regional Representation Office of the Eastern Zone of Mexico City.

«We have a firm commitment to prevent, detect and attend to various ailments that affect this gender. For this reason, during this month we are intensifying actions to offer different services to all Mexicans».

He indicated that this year the objective is to make the male population aware of the risks of not taking care of their health and avoiding the doctor.

For this reason, he indicated, the Medical Directorate, headed by Ramiro Lopez Elizalde, is focused on doubling the prevention of three main diseases: diabetes, overweight and obesity, and prostate cancer.

Through the Integral Management of Diabetes by Stages (MIDE) and Prevention and Regression of Overweight and Obesity (PPRESO) programs, Issste specialists design personalized diet and treatment plans for patients to adopt appropriate habits.

The Institute’s Statistical Yearbook 2022 states that 92,670 new cases of diabetes mellitus were recorded nationwide during this period; the goal is to reduce this figure to benefit the population.
