#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador celebrated the downward trend in inflation during the first fortnight of February, when it reached 4.45 percent, according to the report published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

«This is very good news, very good news and this reaffirms our criterion that wages can be increased without increasing inflation as the corrupt technocrats of conservatism deceived for decades,» he stressed.

In a morning press conference, the president recalled that the Mexican government increased the minimum wage by 20 percent for this year, which strengthens the purchasing power of workers by 110 percent compared to 2018.

«We increased the salary 20 percent. Of course, about 16 percent above inflation and nothing happened; it has nothing to do with it, a big lie, one more sophism,» he abounded.

Contractual salaries, he assured, also increased, as well as the pension for senior citizens, who receive 25 percent more, that is, 6 thousand pesos bimonthly as part of their rights.

The Chief Executive also highlighted that, according to INEGI figures, the national economy grew 3.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2023.
